WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, his wife and son were found dead Monday. Authorities told ABC News that the deaths are being investigated as a possible suicide and double homicide.

This news saddened me greatly. Chris Benoit was one of my favorite wrestlers, right alongside Chris Jericho, Shawn Michaels, and Eddie Guererro (RIP). If the police's suspicions are true, then it is really tragic. Benoit didn't seem like the type who would do something like that, but I guess you can't really know what someone who you don't know personally is like. When I was younger, I hated Benoit, but in a good way. I hated him because I knew he was very good and posed a threat to my beloved face wrestlers. He used to be a heel (bad guy for you non-wrestling fans) and the antagonist of my #1 favorite wrestler, Chris Jericho. The two had a very memorable fued highlighted by many great matches. Over time I came to appreciate Benoit for who he was: a hard, worker who always gave 100% in his matches. He didn't have the charisma or mic skills of his best friend, Eddie Guererro, but he made up for it with his unmatched intensity. He wasn't the biggest guy around, but you knew he could take on anyone who stepped into the ring with him. He became one of the reasons to tune into WWE programming when its storylines went to crap a few years back. When he battled Triple H for the World Heavyweight Title at Wrestlemania XX, I was rooting for him and was ecstatic when he won. He showed that with hard work and determination, you can achieve your greatest dreams. If it turns out that Benoit did kill his family and commit suicide, it leaves a black mark on his legacy. However, it won't ever take away the memories I have of watching him sneer as he locked on that Crippler Crossface to make yet another victim tap out. Thanks, Wolverine.
